Sugar is silent killer of our health

Say No To Sugar

If you are having the sugar-laden diet on daily basis then you are in the right place. Reading this post will make your time full worthy. Facts about sugar will astound you guys that sugar has no nutritional value and no health benefits. Sugar comes in no food group and contains-

  • No Nutrients
  • No protein
  • No healthy fats
  • No enzymes

Understanding Sugars

If you wanted to know what is exactly wrong about sugar than you need to understand its composition first. So let's start learning what made sugar so bad to our body.
Mainly regular table sugar comprised of Glucose and Fructose.

When sugar is ingested from any sweetened product or beverages, before getting into bloodstream sugar is broken down into two simple sugars- Glucose and Fructose.

Glucose is the only good part of sugar that our body seeks energy from it. Consuming Glucose is actually helpful. But on the other hand, Fructose is complete No to our body because fructose can only be metabolized in the liver. Fructose converted into glycogen form in the liver and that's the storage of glucose for future energy until we need it.

Addition of single spoon of sugar to your diet saps your body muscles even faster. Not only sugar contains glucose but also the Carbohydrates. Even though our body produces glucose which is not at all bad to health. Fructose is the only form of sugar which we don't produce it by own. Fructose doesn't go into the bloodstream, instead, it stays in the liver.

Bad effects of sugar-

1. Promotes aging and makes the skin dull with wrinkles
2. Makes blood acidic
3. Raises your blood sugar level
4. Damages liver
5. Get leads to heart disease and failure
6. Insulin resistance
7. Rot your teeth

Sugar can be the cause for following diseases

1. Diabetes
2. Obesity
3. Hypertension
4. Heart diseases

Sugar increases our belly fats

As our liver contains stored sugar in the form of glycogen. Eating lot more fructose overloads the liver and forcing liver to turn fructose into fats. Fats in terms of triglycerides which get deposited This makes Fructose is more harmful than glucose in that regard.

Sugar overloads your liver

Eating fructose in a large amount repeatedly, the liver gets overloaded and leads to fatty liver. It's called Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Sugar decay your teeth

Since childhood, we aware that eating more sweets rot our teeth which leads to cavities and teeth related problems. Bacteria that causes cavities love to eat sugar and lingering in your mouth after you eat something sweet.

Sugar can cause Diabetes

A high sugar diet certainly increases the diabetes risk. A particular type of sugar that has attracted negative attention is high fructose corn syrup. Likely table sugar, high fructose corn syrup causes the spike in blood sugar.  Insulin is the leading hormone in the body, which is produced by the pancreas. that allows your body to use glucose and utilize for energy. In diabetes type 2, glucose level goes up because the body doesn't make enough insulin. Consumption of more sugar raises more glucose level in the blood and leads to a chronic condition called Diabetes.

Sugar deteriorate the memory

A study from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2012 found that more sugar consumption than required has relation with deteriorating memory and affect overall cognitive health. It creates an addictive sugar response in the brain.

More sugar bring wrinkles and gives aging

When I go to my childhood memories, I remember consuming more sugar than probably I should have. A study has been carried out in 2009 that unravels more glucose consumption progresses our aging of cells and hence reduces longevity.

Fructose promotes cancer cells

Study found that fructose is readily used by cancerous cells to increase their proliferation. Fructose helps in cell division and hence leads faster spreading of cancer cells.

Substitute for Sweeteners
1. Stevia
2. Honey
3. Coconut sugar

1. Stevia
Stevia is the natural substitute for sugar. Stevia is sugar-free and non-caloric made from the leaves of the stevia plant. Stevia is the top preferable sugar substitute in the fitness world. Studies have shown that stevioside which is the sweetest compound in stevia, which has the property to lower blood pressure by 6-12%. This is best to avoid damaging effects from regular table sugar.

2. Honey
Honey is the mixture of glucose and fructose. Honey has antibacterial property. It has a lot other minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Honey has the ability to lower blood triglyceride and bad LDL cholesterol in diabetic patients. This is how honey is beneficial even to a diabetic patient.

3. Coconut sugar
Coconut sugar is high in calorie same as regular sugar, but also has few nutrients including zinc, iron, calcium, polyphenols, potassium and antioxidants.
Coconut sugar contains inulin, which slows the glucose absorption. It should be sparingly used because it has same effects of sugar to our health.

Author's take-

This is how sugar is the silent killer for our health. We all like sweets but we don't the bad effects of sweetness. In my opinion, there is no safe amount of processed sugar. Fruits and vegetables containing natural sugars are balanced by their vitamins, fibers, enzymes and other values.

However, if your choice is between sugary drinks, processed foods with sugar, candy or fruits ... GO WITH THE FRUITS
"Eat less sugar, you're sweet enough already" true in my sense.

What is called Dengue

Dengue (pronunciation- Dangee) is mosquito-borne viral disease that has rapidly spread over tropical and subtropical areas in recent years. Dengue also called 'Breakbone fever'. Sometimes Dengue proven to be deadly in some areas of world.

Cause

Dengue is transmitted by female mosquito mainly of species Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus. This mosquito becomes infected when it bites a healthy person with dengue virus in their blood. Severe Dengue (also known as Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever) was recognised in Thailand and Philippines during dengue epidemic in 1950s.
Approx 390 million people are getting affected with Dengue every year worldwide.

Symptoms

  • High Fever(40°C/104°F)
  • Severe Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Dehyrations
  • Vomiting
  • Pain behind eyes
  • Severe joint and muscular pain
  • Rash (usually appears after 5 days)
  • Lowers number of platelets in blood
Many times this symptoms are mistakenly diagnosed with other viral infections or flu, but couple of lab test should be performed in the initial days of onset of symptoms. If symptoms and infections are not treated then it give massive complication like bleeding, shocks, etc and progress the infection to Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) which leads to death of a patient. Consult doctors for such symptoms. Tests like NS1 test and IgM ELISA test should be performed to confirm Dengue fever.

Confirmatory tests

  • NS1 antigen : NS1 (non structural protein 1) test for dengue antibodies detection in blood samples. This test should be conducted only during the early parts of dengue infection, which is clinically within first to five days of onsets of symptoms then only it gives true results otherwise if performed after five days then it gives false results.
  • IgM and IgG Elisa : These are antibodies based test which should be performed after five days and it is confirmatory test. Patients with known or suspected dengue fever should have their platelets and Hematocrit measured daily after onsets of symptoms.

Dengue prone areas

  • Indian subcontinent
  • Taiwan
  • Southeast Asia
  • Southern China
  • Maxico
  • Africa
  • Some part in The Caribbean
  • Central and south America
Aedes Aegypti

Transmission

Aedes aegypti is primary vector of dengue. Dengue is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female mosquito Aedes aegypti. Its possible to become infected by dengue multiple times because the virus has four different antigens. Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus also transmits Chikungunya, West nile fever and yellow fever.

Preventions

Use mosquito repellants, even indoors.
Wear full/longed sleeve clothes and full length pants
Get rid of places where mosquito breeds.
Disposal of solid waste should be properly managed.
Cleaning, covering and emptying water storage containers on weekly basis.
Use of insecticides materials, coils, vaporizers.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Avoid Aspirin Medicine during symptoms onset.

Treatments

Papaya leaves

  • Because dengue caused by virus there was no specific medicine for it but to relieve painful fever doctors usually prescribe Acetaminophen as it alleviate pain and the fever. Aspirin and Ibuprofen medication should not be taken by the patient to relieve pain and fever. Recent studies showed aspirin provoke and increase risk of the bleeding because Aspirin also have Anticoagulation property. So please avoid taking Ibuprofen and aspirin in Dengue.

  • The recent study was conducted to investigate the platelet increasing property of Carica papaya leaves juice. The results astonished everyone and concluded Carica papaya leaves juice does significantly increase the platelet count in patients with Dengue Fever and Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever. Carica papaya is a member of Caricaceae which is originated from southern Mexico, Central America and northern part of South America, but its now been cultivated in many countries like India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The final results at least proved Carica papaya leaves juice has the potential to induce rapid production of platelets in Dengue Fever. Best medication till now is Papaya leaves extract. Procedure- Take 5-10 leaves of Papaya. Wash thoroughly. Grind it in juicer till fine liquid. Strain it. Dosage: Drink 25 ml of juice twice a day for consecutively 5-6 days. This drink really helps from stepping out of Dengue.

The Wilma Rudolph story_Created a history in Olympics

Wilma Always believed in "The triumph can't be had without the struggle"

Who's Wilma Rudolph

Wilma Rudolph was born into a poor home in Tennessee.

What made her different from other Sprinters

At the age of four, she had double pneumonia with scarlet fever, a deadly combination which left her paralysed with polio. She had little recovery from Paralysis but she had lost her leg and foot strength. She had to wear a brace and doctor said she would never be able to put her foot on the ground. But she wore the brace till eight years of age.

Goal she dreamt

Her mother encouraged her; she told Wilma that with God-given ability, persistence and faith she could do anything she wanted. Wilma said "I want to be the fastest woman on the race track on this earth."

Step towards her success

At the age of nine, against the advice of the doctors, she removed the brace and took the first step in her career by going against the doctor's saying that she never would run. At the age of thirteen, she entered her first race and come way, way last. And then she entered her second, and third and fourth and come way, way last until a day come when she come in first.

Success Pathway

At the age of fifteen she went to Tennessee State University where she met a coach by the name of Ed Temple. She told him, "I want to be the fastest woman on the track on this earth." Temple said, "With your spirit nobody can stop you and besides, I will help you."

The day come when she was at the Olympics and at the Olympics she matched with the best of the best. Wilma was matched against the woman named Jutta Heine who had never been beaten by anyone. The first event was the 100-meter race. Wilma beat Jutta Heine and won her first gold medal. The second event was the 200-meter race and Wilma beat Jutta second time and won her second gold medal. The third event was the 400-meter relay and she was racing against Jutta one more time. In the relay, the fastest person always runs the lap and they both anchored their teams. The first three people ran and changed the baton easily. When it came to Wilma's turn, she dropped the baton. Wilma saw Jutta shoot up at the other end; she picked the baton, ran like a machine, beat Jutta a third time and won her third gold medal. It became history: That paralytic woman became the fastest women on this earth at the 1960 Olympics.

At the 1960 summer Olympics in Rome, Rudolph became the first American woman to win 3 gold medals in the track. Rudolph has given a stand-out performance in the history of Olympic competition. The french called her "La Gazelle" She became an instant celebrity in Europe and America. She got official invitation to the White House by the President himself John F. Kennedy(1917-1963) and awards and television appearances and many more.

Author's take

Here is the very inspiring story to me. Wilma was having that burning desire to become fastest woman on the earth and with an amazing will power she achieved her goals.
But here learning is success is not easy, you have  to go through lots of obstacles and never loose hopes and let you down at any circumstances.

This inspiration to achieve something should be there in our life so that we can achieve anything at any circumstances. You all can use this inspiration in your life. Kindly share  your experience in the comments below.

Motivation is the pulling force whereas Inspiration is driving force.
Monetary rewards are temporary and short lived; they are not gratifying long term. In contrast, seeing an idea being implemented can be emotionally gratifying by itself.

Jayanthi Sampathkumar Runs In Hyderabad Marathon With Saree_Traditional Attire

Who says a perfect track suit is necessary for marathon running? Who says women with saree resembles sobriety? This all question answered and proved wrong by Jayanthi Sampathkumar 44-year old lady. She decided to run in marathon by going against the convention and promote the handloom and inspire women.

So who is Jayanthi SampathKumar after all? What is she up to? Why did she run in a saree?

Source: Twitter

About 20,000 people ran in Marathon of 42 km at Hyderabad on Sunday, all tried their best to finish Marathon in given time and many completed too but Jayanthi Sampathkumar drowned everyone's attention towards her. And she managed to cover entire 42-km stretch.

Why did she ran in saree?

Lets see by her, "I want to promote handloom and encourage women. This is a statement of my support. I'm cyclist and ride very often, and notice a lot of plastic pollution happening around us. I'm keen to curb that and want to use this platform to oppose it. For that, maybe I should run in asari made of plastic wrappers people throw" jokes Jayanthi.
Also her simple sandal signifies the same. She stated that she wanted to run marathon in barefoot but the stones hurt her so she opted for simple sandal.

She became inspiration for all women in society. Jayanthi's next step is to enter her name in Guinness Book of World Records.

In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, Jayanthi spoke about her experience and said "It was a great experience! And yes, many more curious to take selfies with me."

Through all this, the 44 year old Jayanthi Sampath might just have made it to the Guinness Book of World Records. Jayanthi has applied to win the title to have run the 'fastest marathon in a sari'.

One more odd convention supporter in this Marathon

Beside this, accompany and support given by Uday Bhaskar Dandamudi 27 year old who ran the marathon in 'dhoti'. Indian traditionalism is prominently showed in the Marathon.

This is not the first time happening, earlier in December 2013, 61 year old Lata Bhagwan Kare also ran in Saree, barefoot and won the Baramati marathon.

Author's take

Women of these spirit are inspiration to society. Those who are gender stereotype we have Jayanthi Sampathkumar like lady going against them to prove a point.
